In the run-up to the November 2024 U.S. presidential election, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) has launched Election 2024, which offers a wide range of resources—including a content hub, a candidate tracker, podcasts, videos, and more—to help voters better understand the critical international issues at stake in the U.S. election.
“Americans will face a significant choice in November 2024 when they vote for the next U.S. president. As a trusted source of independent, nonpartisan analysis with wide-ranging foreign policy expertise, CFR is uniquely positioned to elevate public discussion of foreign policy and the role of the United States in the world,” said CFR President Michael Froman.

The Election 2024 initiative will feature four in-person forums that will engage young people and community members in swing states and examine the foreign policy issues that matter most to them. Planned on college and university campuses in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, the forums will foster civic community conversations exploring America’s role in the world, the foreign policy issues at stake in the election, and the trade-offs presented by different policy choices and their impacts on the local community.
The Election 2024 hub will focus on U.S. foreign policy and international issues featured in the 2024 campaign and include a comprehensive tracker of the candidates’ positions on ten vital foreign policy topics, timely blog posts and explanatory articles written by the CFR editorial team and scholars about election issues, engaging podcasts, and succinct video explainers on important matters.
CFR’s Election 2024 offerings include:
- Election-related events: In-person and virtual forums explore foreign policy issues from the perspective of communities in battleground states.
- Election 2024 hub: The website hosts articles written by the CFR editorial team and scholars with a wide range of expertise on U.S. foreign policy, in addition to a variety of other content.
- Candidate tracker: A tracker details the candidates’ public positions and records on ten pressing international topics, including climate change, trade, and immigration.
- Podcasts: The election is covered on The President’s Inbox podcast, hosted by CFR Director of Studies James M. Lindsay.
